The worst day skiing is still better than the best day working.

WHAT IS SKI IMMERSION?

Skiing well is something that most recreational skiers don't take seriously enough! They imagine that they ski too infrequently to learn to ski like an expert and so battle away with the techniques they learned on their first ski holiday. Yet skiing well can make the difference between a good holiday and a mind blowing experience.

This starts before the tour begins when we distribute written information and specific "dry land" ski exercises to help you get a head start when you arrive in the resort. Over and above that you get security, peace of mind and added value because:

    • we only choose high altitude resorts with a good snow record and predominantly north-facing slopes;

    • we know the resorts ourselves and choose conveniently situated accommodation;

    • if you have skied before we can direct you to the slopes you will enjoy according to your ability. No need to waste precious days before you find those slopes you will love testing yourself on.

Before you depart you will receive

    • advice on the most suitable ski destination according to your own preferences and skiing ability;

    • a fixed price with no hidden extras;

    • all the hassles of booking air tickets and arranging reservations in the most convenient accommodation in your price range are taken care of;

    • basic travel insurance is included in the package and you have the option of taking additional "top up" cover which is all arranged for you;

    • if you live in Johannesburg or Durban, a pre-tour cocktail information evening at which everything to do with your tour and what you will find in the resort is explained in detail. If you live elsewhere you will receive the information by electronic document. This information includes an opportunity to discuss any special requirements you may have with our instructors;

    • rental of skis and ski boots and your lift passes are all prearranged at the most convenient vendor and there is no need for you to waste valuable time when you arrive in the resort;

    • you will receive a regular newsletter keeping you informed of developments and of what is happening in the resort;

    • all the documentation required should you need to apply for a visa;

    • special dry-land exercises developed to help you be up and skiing in the shortest time once you arrive in the resort;

    • accurate instructions of what to expect when you arrive at the European airport.

Once you arrive in Europe

    • you will be met at the European airport and accompanied to the dedicated TomSki transfer vehicle which will whisk you away to the ski resort without having to hang around waiting for shuttle buses or catching trains;

    • on arrival at the resort you will be taken to your accommodation where suitcases will be deposited and then to the ski rental shop for fitting of boots and skis. It is all pre-arranged and the ski rental shop is waiting for you. You won’t be queued up behind the crowd that arrives on changeover day;

    • you will be presented with your ski lift pass and there is no need for you to find the sales office and stand in queues to buy your pass;

    • you will be given an orientation tour of the village so that you will know your way around.

On the ski slopes

    • ski in a group with a qualified ski instructor;

    • receive suggestions on the best pistes for your skiing ability. No need to waste valuable skiing time only to find those pistes that suit you best when the holiday is almost over;

    • to fully enjoy a skiing experience requires certain minimum skills. Consider taking a lesson with a good instructor, which we can help you book.

On the return trip

    • the dedicated TomSki transporter will collect you from your accommodation and transfer you to the airport in good time for your flight to Johannesburg.

Everything is taken care of.
