What Makes a Ski Holiday so Special?

If you have done it before and are looking to go on another ski holiday it will be because you have experienced at least some or, possibly, all of the following elements that no other holiday provides. If you're planning your first ski holiday these are the elements you can look forward to:

  • To paraphrase Harald Harb (author of "Anyone Can be An Expert Skier"), "the exhilaration that only uncertainty brings as you fly down the mountain"
  • The awe inspiring natural beauty of towering snow clad peaks to be seen in every ski resort.
  • Fun and laughter from never ending humorous anecdotes at the end of a day spent skiing or after a night time toboggan run together with a group.
  • The romantic ambiance of a cute, snow covered, "chocolate box" skiing village.
  • The joy and lasting memories that come from spending abundant quality time with family and friends.
  • The "feel good" emotion that accompanies a day of physical exercise in fresh, clean mountain air.
  • And of course Apres-ski parties, ice and umbrella bars, often in the middle or bottom of the ski slopes, where the sound of loud Euro-pop music entices the uninhibited to gyrate on the snow, on the tables or just about anywhere.

What we provide to Assist you to Arrange a Successful Ski Holiday

On this site we set out to provide information to help you decide on where you would like to go skiing. This includes the following points which are by no means assumed to be comprehensive, if you have a query or something you wish to discuss, please don't hesitate to contact us. You will find our contact details on the "about us" page.

  1. A brief comparison of what it is like to ski in Austria as opposed to skiing in France or skiing in Switzerland or Italy because each is distinctly different, not better or worse but different and perhaps each may appeal more or less to you.
  2. Factors to consider when selecting a resort in which to spend your ski holiday. You will also find brief descriptions of our experience of some of our favourite resorts.
  3. There is a section devoted to explaining what is so special and different about a TomSki Ski Holiday including a page with comments from skiers who have been on previous TomSki tours.
  4. We also set out to offer an explanation as to why so many skiers find it difficult to progress beyond the intermediate level despite many hours spent at ski school.
  5. Associated with the last point is a page on which we categorise different levels of skiing ability.

Whatever your preference a ski holiday is an experience of a lifetime and a TomSki tour adds just that bit more.

See the page on our planned tours for the 2011/2012 Alpine ski season.
